P&K Masters - Finals Weekend

Congratulations to Crieff duo John Roseweir and Bob Wilson - winners of this year's P&K Masters.

They squeezed past Strathtay's Simon Gray & John MacBeth on the last hole at Renaissance coming from being behind for most of the round - a strong finish by the pair saw them overturn the result in the last 4 holes.

The Final was played in the best of spirits - with both pairings playing some wonderful golf and scoring very well - despite the windy conditions. It maybe boiled down to previous experience being the deciding factor - as John & Bob won this event over the same course 2 years ago - but throughout the final it did not look as though Simon and the "putt master" John were going to be dragged back.  The winners - wearing matching Tartan outfits (!) realy enjoyed lifting the P&K Masters trophy and look forward to defending their title again next year.

The 3rd & 4th Playoff was won by Strathmore duo Iain Butchart and Alex Simpson over Blairgowrie pair Michael Murray and Ross Mcdonald.  It was fittng that Iain and Alex came out on top having played so well on Saturday at Gullane against John & Bob to just miss out on the final. The Blairgowrie pair found that playing "links golf in windy condtions" tested all their abilities - but they competed well all weekend.

It was also fitting that Alex was able to play in his last event as an amateur - having been accepted into the trainee pro ranks as an assistant with Niall McGill.  Being "carried" by his long term Strathmore mentor Iain - who played some excellent golf all weekend - allowed him to let loose a few "bombs and I know that his folks really enjoyed watching him in his last event - having been following him across the whole country over the years.

Everyone at P&K wishes you all very best young man - and you can rely on our continued support!

It is with much regret that Perth & Kinross County Golf Union must put everything on "hold" in line with current Government & Scottish Golf advice and guidelines.

The Executive Team will have regular discussions to constantly review this situation and will keep the Website and Facebook page updated as quickly as possible.  We will also take advice as to whether or not we need to "furlough" the Secretary position at this time and will advise accordingly in due course.

We are all members of Clubs within P&K and fully understand just how difficult the current situation is for members but also for all our staff and volunteers.

In terms of timelines - we will cancel everything planned with immediate effect (25th March) up to the end of April.

Our Champion of Champions event scheduled for 3rd May is still "on" - but this again will be subject to regular review along with all our other events, team matches, coaching etc.

We hope that you will understand our actions and be re-assured by the positon we have taken to ensure the safety of everyone connected with our Clubs throughout Perth & Kinross.
